Our Mission
Juarez Kids’ mission is to send disadvantaged children in Juarez, Mexico to elementary school. These children don’t have the most basic items that we take for granted: healthy food, warm homes, clean water and access to a basic education. Public schools in Mexico are NOT free: they require payments of approximately $150 per child each year for uniforms, books and tuition. Therefore, many Mexican children never receive even a primary education. They stay home during the day doing nothing while their parents work long hours in the maquilas (factories) that line the US-Mexican border. Without education, these children will become trapped in the colonias’ (slums’) cycle of poverty and desperation, qualified only for unskilled jobs and menial labor. Juarez Kids aims to break this cycle by funding the required school expenses for niños in Juarez.
